PENARTH Literary Festival will be coming back this summer, independent bookshop Griffin Books has announced.

The bookshop is one of the most well-known in Wales and is frequently listed as one of the top independent book shops in the UK.

Griffin Books will host a variety of events from  Saturday, June 18, to Sunday, June 26, with a specific focus on Welsh authors and literature.

All sorts of literature will be included, such as literary fiction, poetry, non-fiction and children’s picture books.

Events include writing workshops, a quiz night and several talks from authors.

The line-up this year includes novelist Tessa Hadley, award-winning children’s writer Caryl Lewis, poet and psychogeographer Peter Finch, and American author Pamela Petro who will be joining via Zoom to discuss her new memoir inspired by the Welsh concept of hiraeth.

There will be an evening of Welsh language fiction hosted by Jon Gower, a crime-writing workshop with Katherine Stansfield and a poetry showcase hosted by resident and poet Stephen Payne.

A few days after the main events, on Saturday, July 2, there will be a special event for children with Lauren Ace, author of bestselling picture-books The Girls and The Boys.

Griffin Books has introduced a £30 Friend of Festival ticket pass, which gives event-goers free access to sessions, discounts on festival book purchases and other exclusive perks.

Tickets can be purchased in person at Griffin Books, over the phone on 029 2070 6455 or via the Ticketsource website here.
