NEW data has shown that residents in the Vale of Glamorgan are among the least at risk from burglary out of anywhere in Wales.

Confused.com gathered data from the Office of National Statistics as well as various police organisations to find out the volume of residential burglaries across the UK in 2021.

In the Vale of Glamorgan, the amount of burglaries per 1,000 people in 2021 was 1.66 - which is the second lowest rate in Wales.

The Vale is just behind Powys and Pembrokeshire, which have the joint lowest rate with 1.59 burglaries per 1,000 people.

The rate of burglaries has been falling all over the UK for the past few years and this is especially the case in the Vale of Glamorgan.

In 2020, the number of burglaries in the Vale per 1,000 people was 1.71, in 2019 it was 2.14, in 2018 it was 2.91 and in 2017 it was 3.22.

This means that in 2021 the burglary rate decreased by 2.92 per cent in the Vale, though this is nothing compared to previous years.

The biggest drop in burglaries in the Vale was in 2019, when the number of burglaries per 1,000 people dropped by 26.46 per cent.
