THE Penarth Summer Festival was a popular choice for many on Saturday, July 16.
Hundreds of people attended the event as the sun shone brightly and temperatures were scorching.
The event lasted from midday until 8pm, and there was plenty there to get up to.
The famous downhill derby took place at Cliff Hill with team the Shropshire Lads claiming the over-16s title.
Members of the Cubs and Beavers were there armed with water pistols to shoot passing carts as they raced towards the finish line at the bottom of the hill.
Musical entertainment was present throughout the day, with groups such as Wonderbrass, Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society and Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band performing.
There were plenty of refreshments from local businesses with pop up stalls all around.
All along the Esplanade were stalls from local groups, such as the Dawnstalkers.
All in all, a great edition to the history of Penarth Summer Festival.
