SOUTH Wales Police has paid tribute to a Vale of Glamorgan police officer who died following a battle with cancer.

PCSO Luke Evans joined the force last October and initially worked on the Cathays neighbourhood policing team before being transferred to Llantwit Major.

He died at the age of 27 following a short battle with cancer.

In a Twitter post, the force expressed their condolences to all who knew him, writing: “Luke will be greatly missed by his team and everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.

“Our sincere condolences are with Luke’s fiancée, his parents, the rest of his family and all his friends and colleagues.”

South Wales Police chief constable Jeremy Vaughan said: “Luke’s death is incredibly sad. My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues who we will support in any way that we can at this extremely difficult time.”
