A NEW co-working space has opened in Penarth.

Milkshed, run by John Davies and Will Summers, offers people the chance to work closer from home while still getting out the house.

Located on 1a Machen Street across two storeys, Milkshed opened its doors on August 31.

Mr Davies, a graphic designer, said: “We’re set up to bring the community together.

"With the cost of living you're probably saving money by not heating the house all day and coming here to co-work.

“We wanted to set up a co-working space in response to the pandemic, a lot of office workers are still in a hybrid model.

“City centre offices often are closed or made smaller so a lot of people are still working from home at their kitchen tables, which is not necessarily the best way to work when it comes to isolation, generating ideas and distractions.

“We’re close in the town centre and where the bulk of the Penarth population live so you don’t need to travel into Cardiff or spend time commuting.

“Looking after your pets’ kids or elderly residents is a lot easier when you’re working close to where you live but still getting out the house as we’re here on your doorstep.”

Mr Davies runs Candid Creative Studio and View Publishing whilst Mr Summers runs Studio64 - a music tuition studio.

Mr Davies said: “We were looking for a place to call our own and to decorate it.

“This building that came along is huge and bigger than what we need for ourselves, so we split it into six studios, and Will and I have one each.

“We have been blown away by the level of support for our unique scheme, all our stand-alone studios are now fully let and we only have five desks remaining.

“Penarth has a lot going for it and it is also very entrepreneurial, and residents believe in shopping and supporting local.

“This was a natural place for us to base ourselves, when the opportunity came along, we jumped at the chance.”
