CARDIFF magistrates issued some heavy fines as they dealt with cases three days before Christmas on December 22, including handing out nearly £500 for speeding.

Here’s who was in court from the Vale of Glamorgan.

Rebecca Egerstrom, 24 of Paget Road, Penarth, received a fine of over £600 for driving without insurance.

On November 14, at Cardiff, Egerstrom drove her Audi Q5 along Rover Way with no policy of insurance in place.

She was fined £660 and made to pay a surcharge of £264. She’ll also pay costs of £90.

Luke Turner, 27, of Murch Road, Dinas Powys, was fined nearly £500 for speeding.

On June 18, at Cardiff, Turner drove an Audi A4 along Greenway Road, Rumney, at 35mph. The speed limit for that stretch of road is 30mph.

He was fined £483 and had three points added to his licence.

Turner will also pay a surcharge of £193 and costs of £90.

Daniel Steven Marshall, 40, of Trem Elai, Penarth, was found guilty of speeding.

On June 23, along the A4119 JW School Road, Pontyclun, Marshall drove at 46mph in a 40mph zone.

Sentencing was adjourned to January 6 for a disqualification notice to be made.

Andrew Dobson, 48, of Penllyn, Cowbridge, was fined £66 and had three points added to his licence after being found guilty of speeding.

On July 16, along the A48 at Brocastle, Dobson was caught speeding at 52mph in a 40mph zone.

It was noted he was given credit for his early guilty plea

Dobson was also made to pay a surcharge of £34.

Gerald Thomas, 39, of Sir Ivor Place, Dinas Powys, was fined £40 for failing to comply with the supervision requirements imposed on him following his release from prison.

Thomas failed to attend appointments on October 5.

He admitted the breach on December 22 at Cardiff Magistrates.
