A BARRY man was given a suspended prison sentence for assaulting two women and a teen from Sully was caught drug driving in a round-up of cases from Cardiff Magistrates Court.

Teejay Courtman, 32, of Holton Road, Barry, was given a suspended prison sentence for among other charges assaulting two women.

Courtman also sent Facebook messages which conveyed threats, and he damaged a Wi-Fi cable and CCTV system belonging to a third woman, to the value of £107

The first assault was committed in Barry on September 27, 2022, and the other assault, Facebook threats, and criminal damage were all committed in the town on November 4.

Courtman pleaded guilty to the criminal damage and sending the Facebook messages on November 7, last year.

He eventually pleaded guilty to the assault charges against him on January 18 of this year.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates Court on February 21 where he received a five-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months.

He was also made to pay compensation totalling £207 and will carry out 100 hours community service.

Aston Baker, 19, of Elworthy Close, Sully, drove a vehicle on cannabis.

On August 17 last year, Baker drove a vehicle on the A4232, at Cardiff, with cannabis in his system.

He pleaded guilty to the charge on January 3 this year.

Baker was disqualified from driving for 15 months at Cardiff Magistrates earlier this month.

He was also fined £220 and will pay a surcharge of £80 and costs of £85.

Wayne Devlin, 34, of St Pauls Avenue, Penarth, was fined for driving without insurance.

In December last year, at Cardiff, Devlin drove his Volkswagen Golf down the city’s Pyle Road without a policy of insurance.

He was found guilty under single justice procedure at Cardiff Magistrates on February 21.

Devlin was fined £120 and had six points added to his licence.

He’ll also pay a surcharge of £48 and costs of £90.

Jacob Phillips, 31, of Arno Road, Barry, stole one pink gin, two cans of cider, 10 joints of beef and two toothbrushes, to the value of £152.79 from Aldi at Treseder Way, Caerau.

Phillips pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates on February 17.

He will be sentenced on March 20 after a pre-sentence report has been made.

Paul Jenkins, 57, of Gwilym Place, Barry, was fined for speeding.

In September last year, Jenkins drove his Renault Laguna, along Pentwyn Road, Pentwyn, at 40mph. The speed limit for that stretch of road is 30mph.

Jenkins was found guilty under single justice procedure on February 14 of this year.

He was fined £220 and had three points added to his licence.

He’ll also pay a surcharge of £88 and costs of £90.
