FOOD hygiene inspectors have awarded top marks to five hospitality venues in the Vale of Glamorgan in recent days.

The Food Standards Agency’s website shows new food hygiene ratings have been awarded to premises in Barry, Penarth and Dinas Powys.

Ratings of five – the best possible grade – were awarded to the following venues:

Dinas Powys Golf Club, in Highwalls Road, Dinas Powys, rated on May 18.

Glendale Hotel and Villa Napoli, in Plymouth Road, Penarth, rated on May 25.

Joy's of Gingerlicious, in Friars Road, Barry, rated on May 25.

Mo's at Station Approach, Penarth, rated on May 25.

Penarth Road Snooker Club at Marriot House, Penarth Road, Penarth, rated on May 24.

What are food hygiene ratings?

Restaurants and cafes, as well as other hospitality venues such as pubs and bars, are required to display their food hygiene ratings once they have been visited and scored by inspectors.

Venues are judged on areas such as hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities, and management of food safety.
