PENARTH teenager Frankie Wood has released her second single - just three months after her debut single.

The 14-year-old Stanwell School pupil released Take a Chance (On This Romance), on Friday, July 28.

Her first single, Thoughts Inside My Head, reached 6,000 streams, with both singles having been broadcast on SW20 Radio, the year 10 pupil spoke to the Penarth Times about the new single.

She said: “I felt like doing a shift in genre, this one is more upbeat, summery, and cheeky in parts and is happier than the first single.

“It is about someone getting asked out, and then that person said no but then later realises that they want to get back together.

“My mum and brother were involved in backing vocals for this one, and it’s doing quite well at the moment with being broadcast on SW20 radio.”

The 14-year-old comes from a music background with her family all involved in music - and Frankie hoped to follow a career in the performing arts.

The talented singer said she chose creative options for her return to school in September to help towards reaching that goal.

She added: “I want to be creative as I love writing songs, I want to be involved in the performing arts industry.

“When it came to choosing my options in year 9, I chose Music, Performing Arts and Media Studies as I find that interesting.

“My teachers are proud of me, especially my music teacher she loves my songs, and my family are very supportive as we are a musical family, and my dad is very proud.”

The teenager is no stranger to the stage as she performed at concert venues including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, St Davids Hall.

Frankie hopes to release more music in the future and said it would be amazing if her music reached the UK chart show.

She added: “I hope to do a duet with my 12-year-old brother in the future after he did back vocals on my new single.

“I hope to write more songs which I could release soon, and it would be so cool if my music were to make the charts. If that did happen it would be incredible and unreal.”

The new track is available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon Music.
