A RETROSPECTIVE planning application has been lodged to retain a log cabin built without planning permission.
The cabin was built on land in Lavernock Road, Penarth, in June – but a planning application had not been submitted or approved.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Planning Department has since confirmed permission is needed for the cabin to remain.
A letter from a council planning officer to the applicant following a site visit states: “I can confirm that by virtue of the buildings position, size and permanence that it does require planning permission.
“Therefore, if you would like the building to remain on site, then you will need to regularise it by submitting a planning application retrospectively.
“This would involve submitting full plans of the building (including floor plans and elevations), in addition to a site plan showing the buildings location within the site, and a site location plan.”
The application has been submitted to the council, and is currently awaiting responses from consultees in the area.
