PLANNING permission has been granted for a new balcony at a house in Penarth.

The application requested permission for alterations to an end-of-terrace, three-storey house in Penarth Portway, backing onto Penarth Marina.

The new balcony will replace an existing one on the first floor of the house, and will be constructed with steel support posts fixed to the boundary wall.

A garage door will also be removed and filled in, and a new door created, with Juliet balconies on the north side of the building.

A planning report read: “These changes would be acceptable in design and materials and would not have a significant detrimental impact on the character of the street scene.

“Overall, the balcony extension and other alterations would be viewed as acceptable additions and alterations to the dwelling, with negligible impact surrounding street scene and will not be out of keeping with the wider terrace or that of the marina.”

Planning permission was granted on Monday, July 24.
