A PENARTH gym has temporarily closed for maintenance works.

Penarth Leisure Centre announced on social media that it has temporarily closed its health suite after concerns from members and users of the centre.

Their statement reads: “Recently we have received a considerable amount of feedback in regard to ongoing issues with our health suite and wish to assure you that your concerns have been listened to.

“Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to close the health suite temporarily. This will allow us to undergo a full review of the maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of the facilities to avoid any further disappointment.

“When we reopen, we wish to provide you with a fully operational health suite functioning to the standard our customers expect and which we believe should be in receipt of.

“During this time, you will be able to access the health suite at Cardiff International Pool on a Vale-only membership as an alternative, as well as Cowbridge Leisure Centre. We appreciate your custom, understanding & patience - please bear with us.”

This comes after it was announced in September that the swimming pool would be closed while upgrades to the roof continue.

The pool has been closed since November and was set to re-open this month after work to improve the roof was completed, but due to bad weather work on the roof has been delayed.

Customers and members of the Penarth Leisure Centre have been advised to use gym and pool facilities at the Cardiff International Pool in Cardiff Bay or at the Cowbridge Leisure Centre.
