PENARTH Leisure Centre has announced plans to re-open its pool in April.
The leisure centre is currently undergoing extensive refurbishments, including a roof refurbishment, as part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council's investment programme.
With phase one set to be completed in April, the centre looks to move to phase two of the project, which involves re-locating the gym to the sports hall on February 28.
Manager Lee Bear said: "I look forward to welcoming members and visitors back to Penarth Leisure Centre when the pool re-opens in late April.”
The leisure centre re-opened the health suite on, Tuesday, February 13 after maintenance work took place.
Nic Beggs, contract manager at Legacy Leisure added: “We are well into the project now and despite some terrible weather conditions I am delighted to say we are still on the program and making good progress. The winter months are some of our most challenging, so we are pleased.
“Phase one should be completed in April. Phase two is now being planned in more detail and we will see some changes and adjustments from the end of February.”
The gym will be moved into the sports hall with plans to continue to operate fitness classes as normal. The leisure centre will remain open during this time.
Mr Beggs added: “Phase three will see us return the gym to its rightful location on the first floor. The sports hall will then have to stay out of action until the project is completed.
"The ceilings will remain untouched internally, and the existing roof covering will be overlaid in manageable sections to minimise the risk of disruption from the weather.
“The outer edges of the roof will also be replaced as the work progresses. The car park will mostly be unaffected, but we have lost access to the pathway and parking bays alongside the Sports Hall.
“The one-way system will remain in place and all the line markings for the current car park have been refreshed to aid users.”
The gym will remain fully operational, but will be in the sports hall.
