A PENARTH couple have teamed up to open a new private tattoo parlour in Barry last month.

Lala and Kris Coles opened Ebony Squid Studio on Holton Road on Wednesday, February 28.

The couple replaced Morgan Davies Tattoos at 237 Holton Road after the former owner sold the property.

Mrs Coles told the Barry and District News that it was the perfect location to open their first business as a married couple.

She said: "We were looking for somewhere quiet and nicer, Cardiff is lovely but there is not much sun and everyone tends to be grumpier.

She explained that the previous owner hoped it would be kept as a tattoo parlour due to planning for that business.

"The owner told us that she held off selling it for another week before we viewed it, to see if another tattoo artist would buy it.

"It had a specific licence for the studio, so when we viewed it the estate agent shook my hand and cried as she was relieved we were tattoo artists.

Mrs Coles has attracted clients from around the UK, Dubai, and Colorado in America.

Since opening three weeks ago, the couple has been successful at the new location and is optimistic about the future.

She added: "We have attracted clients all around the UK, colorado and Dubai who travel all over to come to have tattoos by us.

"It has gone well, we can't believe it after what happened with the eviction and getting the studio ready quickly, we expected it to be a struggle but it has been lush.

"The location wasn't a priority but we wanted somewhere with a calm, chilled vibe where our clients can feel relaxed."
