GERT Lush Events is a company with a difference in Dursley.
Here founder Paul Breen explains what Gert Lush Events is all about:
What is Gert Lush Events?
We are an events company with a difference based in Dursley, that specialises in sporting events that have a positive social impact. We support multiple charities and use our races to help fund local community projects that put smiles on people's faces. these projects include the following.
Talking Benches
These benches are going up around Dursley and they encourage people to sit and engage with people, they also signpost people to local social, sporting or mental health groups.
We sponsor Highfields Community Garden and have worked to relaunch it and get the local community involved
Have a brew on us: We donate money to local coffee shops so that if they identify someone who looks like they are having a bad day, they use the money to buy their brew (coffee, tea etc). this puts a smile on their face as well as the server.
All of our events have two mandatory entry requirements with one being a foodbank item that we donate to the GL11 project foodbank. these items are picked from a list of the top 5 most needed by GL11
The other mandatory item is a set of old trainers that we donate to Jogon, a charity that aim to keep old shoes out of landfill and recycle them.
We currently organise multiple events from backyard ultras to swimming events and will be launching more very soon, however our flagship event in The Berkeley Marathons UK

We have a main charity called BIGMOOSE that is based in Cardiff and supports mental health and suicide prevention. we also choose local charities / organisations each year that we can give money to or help in other ways like the Highfields garden. currently we have donated around £10,000 to varying groups. We hope to help support The Breakheart Quarry in the future as this is a fantastic resource for people's mental health.
