A PENARTH dentists is under new ownership.
Smile Studio Dentist at 4 Plymouth Road is now run by Drs Nitin Duggal and Chris Truman.
Penarth Times visited the dentists at what has to be one of the grandest dental premises we’ve seen. The practice is housed in a section of the remarkable Lansdowne building opposite Westbourne School.
So, what’s new with Smile Studio dental practice now it's in new hands?
Dr Duggal told us the ultimate aim of the takeover is to improve patient experience by using better technology to treat patient’s dental issues – for example Dr Duggal and Dr Truman are investing in digital X-Rays.
The practice is also one of few that offers lingual orthodontics – the skill of fitting fixed braces on the inside of the teeth so they do not show.
One of the big questions is will Smile take on NHS patients? They won’t, with Dr Duggal explaining it is regretfully not possible at this location.
Despite this they are taking on new patients in an affordable membership plan which is suitable for the whole family.
Smile Studio patients will also benefit from Dr Duggal and Dr Truman’s extensive portfolio of practices across the Vale and Cardiff, with patients able to use facilities within the practice group as and when required.
Although Dr Duggal has a network of dental practices, he said Penarth has a special place in his heart.
“Smile Studio Practice is something I have been looking at for a while,” said Dr Duggal. “I live in Penarth and love it.”
Smile Studio is certainly a special dental practice, set in a section of Lansdowne House it is like dentistry for Downtown Abbey!
The grand hallway, impressive reception room, high ceiled elaborately corniced operating room, it all puts patients at ease, and if it doesn’t and you still get a bit of phobia from going to the dentist, the practice also offers sedation to calm the nerves.
However, their extensive experience should put any patient at ease.
Dr Duggal and Dr Truman, both 38, met at dental school in Cardiff and have worked together ever since.
Dr Truman, from Bridgend, said he was looking forward to taking over the practice.
“I was excited from the first time I walked into the practice and I can’t wait to meet all the Penarth families.”
