A Penarth site manager has been given a 'Seal of Excellence' at the 2024 Pride in the Job Awards.
Daniel Williams, who works for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, was among the best in the country recognised for their commitment to improving house-building standards.
The awards are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the UK's largest provider of new home warranties and insurance.
Mr Williams was among six site managers from Wales awarded a Seal of Excellence after receiving a Quality Award in the first round of the competition in June.
The other Seal of Excellence winners were Dave Jones of Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Wales in Swansea, Paul Oakley of Bellway Homes Wales in Cardiff, Nick Powell of Redrow Homes South Wales in Newport, Nick Rumble of Persimmon Homes West Wales in Pontyclun, and Mike Thomas of South Meadow Homes Ltd in Pembroke.
The Pride in the Job Awards are considered the 'Oscars' of the house-building industry.
Now in its 44th year, the competition is a benchmark for outstanding site managers.
The judging process is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
Steve Wood, CEO of NHBC, congratulated the winners.
He said: "For more than four decades, Pride in the Job has underpinned NHBC’s purpose of raising standards in house building.
"The competition recognises the UK’s top site managers, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
"Winning site managers demonstrate dedication, passion and leadership to ensure new homes are delivered to exacting construction quality standards.
"While house building is a team effort, we believe the greatest influence on the quality of a finished home is the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their team.
"Congratulations to all the winners."
The Pride in the Job Awards has five categories: small, medium, and large builders, as well as multi-storey for projects up to seven storeys and high-rise for projects more than seven storeys.
The regional winners for the small and large builder categories were Gareth Davies of T I Davies A'I Fab Cyf for his work at Maes Y Dderwen in Cardigan, and Matthew Coyle of Redrow Homes South Wales for his work at Parc Y Coleg in Newport.
Both Mr Davies and Mr Coyle will now go forward to compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards, which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2025.
