Makeover brings new life to Penarth school's playground

A local team began work on Monday 11th August and wrapped up the project on Tuesday 26th, delivering a full programme of improvements across the school’s playground and garden areas, including de-vegetation of overgrowth, shed repairs, painting, roofing, and landscaping. The aim is to make outdoor areas safer and more usable for pupils and staff, many of whom rely on accessible, sensory-friendly spaces for learning and recreation.

Staff say the refreshed grounds will offer vital outdoor access for pupils, many of whom benefit from therapeutic and accessible play areas.

The voluntary effort comes at a time of growing public support for the school, which gained national attention through the BAFTA Cymru-nominated documentary A Special School. With the new academic term approaching, the timing couldn’t be better.
