A new photography exhibition is shining a light on the power of community.
Thirteen students from the University of South Wales’ documentary photography course are set to unveil the spirit of Penarth in a one-night-only showcase, to be held at the Paget Rooms on Thursday, December 18.
The exhibition, supported by Penarth Town Council, will offer an intimate look at the people and stories that define the town.
David Barnes, an international filmmaker and course leader at USW, said: "Documentary photography is a powerful tool to celebrate and champion communities.
"These students have shown an extraordinary ability to connect with people and bring their stories to life."
The exhibition features work by Archie Bernstein, Cassie Davies, Chris Lord, Connor Laing, Eleanor Hopkins, Jack Gent, John Martin, Natalie Scurlock, Noam Carklin, Owen Bullock, River Wells, Sonu Sethi and Will Foley.
Karin Bareman, formerly of Foam Gallery Amsterdam and Autograph London, said: “The students work will show the importance of documentary photography to local communities and the power of such exhibitions to be accessible for all.
"Documentary work is one of the most in-demand formats across all media, so I am certain that you have the opportunity to see the birth of many a career.”
