The Friends of Penarth Library have announced the launch of a children's art competition running until February 28.
The competition is freely open to Penarth children in school years four, five, and six.
Participants are asked to paint or draw a favourite animal character from a book on A3 paper, which can be provided upon request by the library.
Within the three school year categories, the first prize winner will receive a £30 Griffin book voucher, while the second place will win a £20 voucher.
The third prize winner will be awarded a £10 voucher.
Children taking part are to have their names, addresses, phone numbers, and school year written on the back of their artwork, in addition to the name of the animal character and the story it hails from.
On Thursday, March 26, the prizes will be presented, and the winning entries will be displayed in the library, joining last year's pieces which are still on display.
