Repairs and safety measures are now in place following the collapse of an external wall at a residential property in Penarth earlier this month.

The incident, which occurred on Plassey Street on January 8, prompted an emergency response from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and led to road closures while the site was secured.

Since then, the Vale of Glamorgan Council has confirmed that the affected area has been made safe, with repair works now underway at the property.

Barriers and warning tape remain in place as a precaution, while loose stonework has been cleared and the structure stabilised to prevent any further risk to the public.

A Dangerous Structures Notice was previously issued, with responsibility for repairs resting with the property owners following a structural assessment by a qualified engineer.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collapse.

Residents experienced disruption while emergency services were on scene, but the council has confirmed the immediate safety risk has now been addressed. Further work may still be required depending on the outcome of ongoing structural checks.
