Fairfield children climb Pen y Fan for annual PTA fundraiser

Accompanied by two dogs and "grown-ups", the 21 pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 embarked on the fourth annual sponsored hike to the peak on May 16.

Despite forecasts of wind and rain, the climbers were fortunate with a mostly dry ascent, reflected creditably in their record timing.

The courageous children managed to gather more than £400 for the Fairfield Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

A spokesperson for Fairfield said: "All of the children from Year 1 to Year 6 made it to the top in record timing.

"We are very proud of all who took part."

The PTA lauded the event as one of its favourites of the year and has announced plans for a repeat event next year.
