Penarth Literary Festival returns with a refreshed programme and a new setting.
This year’s events will take place at Belle Vue Park Pavilion from June 19 to 21, offering a wide range of author talks, family sessions, and poetry readings.
Organised by Penarth’s award-winning independent bookshop, Griffin Books, the festival will run throughout the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday events hosted at the Belle Vue Park Pavilion on Albert Road, close to the bookshop.
Mel Griffin, owner of Griffin Books, said: “This year’s festival is all about bringing people together through a shared love of books, reading and ideas.
"We’re excited to be making Belle Vue Pavilion our new festival venue, and hope visitors will spend the weekend enjoying not only the events themselves but also soaking up the atmosphere and everything the local area has to offer.”
The line-up includes BAFTA Award-winning actress Kimberley Nixon, who will discuss her memoir She Seems Fine to Me.
Other highlights include travel writer Monisha Rajesh, Welsh neuroscientist and author Dr Dean Burnett, and Claire Lynch, who will speak about her Nero Award-winning debut novel A Family Matter.

Welsh authors Jon Doyle, Catrin Cadogan, and Meredith Miller will take part in the festival’s Fiction Showcase, while Will Hayward will discuss his new book Who Cares About Wales? in a sold-out event.
The festival will conclude with a Poetry Showcase hosted by Katherine Stansfield and Stephen Payne.
Events for younger readers are also featured in the programme.
These include a Storytime session with author and illustrator Rhian Wright, a chance to meet Postman Bear from Julia Donaldson’s books, and an interactive event with broadcaster Lucy Owen and illustrator Rebecca Harry for their new title, Forest Girl.
