The Met Office has forecasted that Penarth will continue to experience a heatwave through the weekend and into Monday.
Temperatures are expected to remain well above the seasonal norm, reaching the mid-20s and higher.
On Friday, July 10, Penarth can expect a partly sunny day, with afternoon temperatures climbing towards around 27–29C.
It will feel particularly hot away from the immediate seafront, where only a light onshore breeze is likely to offer limited relief.
Saturday, July 11, will maintain the heat, bringing very warm air and plenty of strong July sunshine.
Highs again are expected in the mid-20s, locally nudging close to 30C at peak.
UV levels will be high, and overnight temperatures in the mid-teens or above mean the town may feel close and uncomfortable after dark, especially in built-up streets and flats.
On Sunday, July 12, the summery picture continues with long sunny periods and a fresher breeze off the Bristol Channel.
Even with the breeze, afternoon temperatures should still reach the low to mid-20s, keeping Penarth within heatwave territory.
By Monday, July 13, very warm air remains in place, with a mix of sunshine and some patchy cloud and afternoon readings widely into the 20s, only easing slightly compared with the peak of the heat.
Overall, it is a sustained spell of hot, often sunny weather for Penarth, with several consecutive days above 25C and notably warm nights, consistent with an established heatwave.
