GYMNASTS from Penarth Gym Club had a successful day at the Welsh Challenge Cup Championships.

Elinor Lewis was a clear winner of the all-round event and along with team members Elin Yapp and Emily Wooley took second team place. Elinor was also awarded golds on beam and floor and silver on vault and bars.

Sophie Erickson, Sarah Sherlock, Joanne Price and Ceri Huish competed for the Senior Challenge Cup. Despite Sophie suffering an ankle injury while performing on floor, her team mates soldiered on to earn second team place, just half a mark behind the Caldicot winners.

Sarah also took third position in the overall placings, gold for her beam routine and bronze on bars.
