PENARTH businesses have been asked to have a heart and sponsor a song at a charity Valentine's Ball next month.
The event, organised by town mayor Cllr Carole Clifford, takes place on February 16 and will benefit her chosen charities, Home Access Trust and Penarth and District Stroke Support Group.
Local business people have now been given an opportunity to sponsor a song for £10, to be sung in the show by the Cogan Coronation Choir.
The tunes have been compiled by the choir to reflect the mood of Valentine's Day and include If I Love You, You're Just In Love, Some Enchanted Evening and When We Were Young.
Cllr Clifford said: "We shall be in for a musical treat. We intend to create a romantic ambience through candlelit tables and provision of a light finger buffet.
"There will be a grand raffle draw with many prizes including a painting donated by local artist Diana Mead, and a flower arrangement donated by Ann Dobbins of Penarth Flower Arrangement Club."
Penny Ann Evans, of Stroke Support Group, John Davies conductor, Gwen Emmerson of Home Access and Paula Fowler of Cogan Coronation Choir welcomed the event.
Potential sponsors can send a cheque made payable to Penarth Town Mayor's Charities to the town council, at West House, Stanwell Road, Penarth. Full details of each sponsor will appear on the programme.
Tickets for the evening cost £6, to include the buffet, and are available from Penarth Travel and Deric Davies Opticians, Glebe Street.
