ROCK STAR (15)

FOR millions of people around the world the dream of becoming a famous rock star slowly dwindles away as we reach our late teens.

But for Chris Cole (Mark Wahlberg) being a rock star is the one dream he can't let go. By day he still lives at home with his parents and spends his time repairing copy machines.

But as the night descends he takes the stage with Pennsylvania's premiere 'Steel Dragon' tribute band. He becomes the lead singer Bobby Beers, mesmerising audiences with his almost perfect imitation of Beer's electrifying vocals and sexy snarl.

Chris's obsession with everything 'Steel Dragon' and his unreeling pursuit of perfection, leads other members of the band, who dream of playing their own songs as well, to kick him out and replace him with a rival lead singer.

But this devastating event leads to an unexpected phone call that changes Chris's life forever.

His idols 'Steel Dragon' are in need of a new lead singer and he's asked to audition.

In a heartbeat he is rocketed to the dizzying heights of super stardom, accompanied by his devoted manager/girlfriend Emily, played by Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

They embark on an adventure that they will never forget as the ultimate fan becomes the ultimate rock god.

Filled with fun moments Rock Star gives a good account of the highs and lows of a rock and roll star, from the adulation of the crowds to the drug filled hazes.

Director Stephen Herek has captured the 80s Los Angeles rock scene to a tee, the costumes and production design are excellent and the music blends well with the visual style of the film.

Mark Walhberg is the perfect choice to play the wannabe who got to be, and Jennifer Aniston shakes off the 'Rachel' role as she gives one of her best film performances to date.
