A VALE councillor was at Buckingham Palace recently to pick up his MBE.
Cllr Clive Williams, of St Anne's Avenue, cabinet member for Social and Care Services at the Vale authority, was named in last year's Honours List for services to local government.
Cllr Williams was mayor of Penarth in 1987 and has sat on Penarth Town Council since 1983, with the exception of a four-year break.
Clive said: "It was an honour to receive the award.
"I would like to thank my wife for being so supportive through all the years that I have been involved in council work."
