THURSDAY, March 1, saw the investiture of a new Explorer Scout Unit in Penarth, called Storm.

Another eight young people are set to be invested into this new unit, which was opened due to demand for Explorer Scouts in Penarth (and Les Pugh's Own Explorer Scout unit is full).

This section of the Scouts has seen the highest growth in the past few years.

A spokesman said: "If it wasn't for the two past Explorer Scouts who became leaders, then this unit would not have opened.

"Like a lot of Scout groups, it is struggling for adult support."
