DO you have memories of the Billybanks that you are willing to share with a creative writing group?

Now that the Billybanks have been mostly demolished to make way for the new Penarth Heights development, Crest Nicholson (South West) Ltd and the Vale Council, who are working together on a series of arts projects for Penarth Heights, are collaborating with Literature Wales to offer free creative writing workshops for all those interested in telling the stories of the Billybanks.

The group will be led by a professional writer and participants don't need any experience in creative writing, just stories to share. During the sessions the group will produce a series of written works (stories or poems), which will be published on the Literature Wales website and elsewhere as part of the Penarth Heights public art programme.

Pupils from Penarth schools worked with writers, artists and photographers over the summer term to create poems, sounds and films that grew out of site visits to the Billybanks before the demolition - and now it's the turn of the adults.

If you're interested in joining the group (sessions are free) or want to find out more about the writing project, contact Louise Richards, Literature Wales' Project Officer, on 07854 435217.
