THERE was an interesting letter in the Penarth Times last week (November 8) from Cllr Lis Burnett, who represents St Augustine’s on both the Vale and Penarth Town Council.
She pledges: “Now we are listening to local people”. However, Cllr Burnett might be well-advised to start keeping the promises she has already made.
In the campaign to get elected last May, Cllr Burnett issued a pamphlet to all residents promising “A Labour council will introduce a Council Tax discount for households with a resident aged 70 or over unless already receiving benefits.”
Vale of Glamorgan Council officials say they’ve never heard of any such scheme. So, Cllr Burnett, would you care to comment? We’re listening.
