THE sun stands untroubled in a cerulean sky
And the placid water seems to sparkle with jewels
As a child merrily throws a pebble
Into the somnolent September sea
Which gently explodes like a far off war
Wave sizzling onto the stones
As fishermen cast their lines of the pier
But I'm content to slowly wander here
On this sumptuous Sunday in September
Before the drab rains of autumn arrive.
The pier clock relates that it's almost noon
And the crowds are starting to descend
For ice-cream, perhaps a coffee
And then a gentle stroll on the stony beach.
I admire the pier which basks in the sun
As children laugh and dogs gleefully run.
