DEAR editor,
I view a man with a seagull on his hat
Feeding the birds with bread
Seagulls screeching like excited children.
There are dark clouds over Cosmeston Lakes
And the water silver instead of blue
When I was last here back in the summer.
Today only a handful of people stroll
But the serene view relaxes my soul.
On the other side of the lake
Two girls on horseback ride into the woods
As I remember when were were together here
Talking of God and admiring nature.
I walk over the boardwalk surrounded by reeds
And when I return the man with a seagull
On his hat is not present any more
But he's frozen in time minutes before.
It is a mild, dry autumn morning
The sun blessed us with a brief visit
But will not break through slate clouds again.
A squirrel leaps over a golden carpet
And white swans drift majestically.
Another band of rain is expected
But for a good our or so I will stay
On this November morning painted grey.
