WITH regards to the comments made by the Penarth Times’ prolific letter writer, I fail to understand why she continually puts down this country.
This little island has become the fifth largest economy in the world. We have more people in work and more job opportunities compared with the rest of the EU and have a fantastic innovative workforce. This is to be celebrated.
The current government was democratically elected so I fail to understand why she claims that they bought last year’s election. She further blames this government for cuts to local councils in Wales, which I find strange when Wales is requesting more control over its own spending, away from central government.
I would suggest that if the Welsh government/National Assembly reduced its 7,000 employees, with the salaries and pensions that goes with it, and the overheads of managing its vast real estate, then more money could go to local authorities.
