WE MUST get to the bottom of Sully Gate.

I am totally shocked and alarmed to learn that around 20 per cent of the letters written in support of the proposed development at Sully Sports and Social may not be genuine.

This is very disturbing news and the matter must now be brought to the attention of the police. The chairman of planning and secretary of this club, Cllr Fred Johnson, should be calling for an independent inquiry and for the matter to be referred for investigation.

The application for 200 homes at the Sully sports site is due to go before the planning committee today – it must now be pulled pending an investigation in this affair now dubbed Sully Gate.

Well done to my Independent colleague Cllr Kevin Mahoney for bringing this to the public attention.

Furthermore, this matter could potentially have an impact on both the planning process and the whole council.
