I SHOULD like to thank all those involved with the creation of the new junction on the A4055 Barry Road and Cross Common Road junction.
I began the campaign in 2001 and, mainly due to ‘cost pressures’, it has taken this long to achieve.
I would particularly like to thank the Garland and Joyce families for their continued efforts over so many years to alleviate the flood risk at properties in the vicinity, by helping me to put pressure on the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the Environment Agency (now NRW), Welsh Water, and other stakeholders, to remove the ancient bridge (to be removed), which causes floodwater retention leading to increased flood risk, and to create the new junction.
I believe that the junction still needs extra lighting and warning signs along the A4055 but I am liaising with the Highways Department on these matters.
Cllr Christopher Williams
Vale of Glamorgan Council
