Shoppers face urgent warnings after food and footwear were pulled from UK stores.

Retailers including Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Next have issued recall notices this week alongside alerts from national safety watchdogs.

The warnings cover products contaminated with Salmonella, packaging mix-ups involving undeclared peanuts and gluten, incorrect date labels and footwear with fall hazards.

Salmonella warning on imported eggs

Food safety officials have warned consumers to throw away imported eggs linked to 36 salmonella cases across England.

The Food Standards Agency ordered the withdrawal of shell eggs imported from Ukrainian producer Yasensvit Ltd that bear the stamp code 3UA1012066.

Watchdogs confirmed that eggs sold in major UK supermarkets are produced in Britain and are completely unaffected by the outbreak.

The contaminated eggs were supplied primarily to wholesalers and the catering sector, but officials warned some reached independent convenience stores and small shops.

Anyone with eggs carrying the 3UA1012066 stamp is instructed not to eat them and to dispose of them safely at home.

Waitrose Tuna Pâté

Waitrose has apologised to customers after recalling 115g tubs of fish pâté sold across England due to a date labelling mistake.

Packs of Waitrose Tuna Pâté display an incorrect use-by date of December 17, 2026, instead of the correct date of October 17, 2026.

Food safety regulators warned that the error makes the pâté unsafe to eat after October 17.

Shoppers who purchased the tubs are urged not to consume them and should package the item up to return it to their nearest Waitrose store for a full refund.

Customers with enquiries can call the Waitrose Customer Care line on 0800 188 884.

Asda and Sainsbury's snack bars

Halo Foods Ltd has recalled batches of snack bars sold at Asda and Sainsbury's because of an undeclared peanut allergy hazard.

Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars were accidentally packed inside Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers during manufacturing, meaning peanuts are not listed on the packaging.

The recall applies to five-packs of 20g bars with batch code 6238, best-before date August 2027, and individual bar production time stamps between 8.30am and 10.30am.

Packs were distributed to selected Sainsbury's stores in England and selected Asda branches in England and Scotland.

Anyone with a peanut allergy should not eat the bars and should return them to the shop where they were bought for a full refund.

Customers can contact the helpline on 0800 298 3969 or email Enquiries@skinnybars.co.uk.

Gilbert's Chopped Liver

Gilbert's Kosher Foods Limited has recalled chopped liver across England after discovering a labelling error on chopped liver tubs marked gluten free.

Wheat was found in the food, creating a serious health risk for people with coeliac disease or wheat intolerance.

The recall covers 250g and 450g tubs across eight batch combinations with use-by dates of October 23, October 28, November 4 and November 13, 2026.

Shoppers with coeliac disease or an allergy to wheat or gluten should not eat the liver and can return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Next wedge sandals

High street fashion chain Next has issued a safety recall for wedge sandals sold by Next following an alert from the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

The warning applies to Mint Velvet Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandals in light tan and brown, carrying model numbers Y79431 and Y79434.

Safety officials identified that the footbed can become dislodged from the wedge heel during wear, posing a fall and injury risk.

Owners are advised to stop wearing the sandals immediately and follow instructions from Next to arrange a refund or replacement.

Home Bargains cookies and Pot Noodle

Trading standards bosses have also highlighted supermarket notices for holiday cookies and noodle pots.

Home Bargains recalled Lambertz Mini Spekulatius (best before August 30, 2027) and Lambertz Christmas Tree Cookies (best before May 17, 2027) because allergens were not declared in English.

Unilever recalled Pot Noodle Piri Piri Chicken Flavour (batch code L6232PB796, best before May 2027) due to undeclared milk.

Affected items should not be eaten by anyone with relevant allergies and can be returned to stores for a refund.

What is a product recall?

When a problem is uncovered with an item, products can either be withdrawn from store shelves or recalled from shoppers.

A withdrawal removes unsold stock from retail display, while a recall asks customers who already purchased the product to return it.

Anyone who has purchased a recalled product should stop using it immediately and follow the retailer's instructions to claim a full refund.
