A PLANNING application to fit solar panels to three areas of the roof of a house within the Penarth Conservation Area has been lodged.

The application seeks permission to fit panels to three areas of the roof of 39, Westbourne Road – the front side facing the street, the side of the roof on a rear extension, and another side of the wall on the rear extension.

A supporting letter submitted with the application says: “There seems to be little precedent for solar panels within the Conservation Area, but considering the recent energy emergency and drive towards net zero we hope this could change.”

The application was submitted to the council in March and was validated on Thursday, April 6. A decision, expected to be made under delegated powers, is due to be made by Thursday, June 1.
