Bryn Rovers recently held their annual awards presentation at the Derlwyn Arms in Brynaman where a fantastic evening was had by all, courtesy of landlords Nigel and Maria Jones.

The club would like to thank all the volunteers and coaches who made the season possible and the sponsors who continue to give so generously to the cause.

A big thank you goes to all the players for their commitment and dedication throughout the season.

The evening was also a celebration of the successful season enjoyed by the second team, who captured the first ever treble in club history when they were crowned Neath and District Reserve Division One champions, Reserve Division One Cup winners and Reserve Open Cup champions.

The side also finished the season undefeated, claimi9ng yet another club record in the process. Keeper Richard Lloyds had a commanding season between the sticks, averaging only one goal conceded per game.

The defence, led by the dominant Dan MacMahon proved to be the best in the division, with regulars Jason Williams and Dan Richards providing the younger members of the squad some much needed stability and experience.

Dave Hornsby and Sior Williams enjoyed excellent debut seasons while Shaun Phillips showed signs of progress towards the end of the campaign.

In midfield, captain Carwyn Sheldon had a great season in nearly every position was a contender for player of the year.

Meanwhile Del Patel proved himself the best player in the league with several scintillating displays.

Debutant Nick Lacey came into the side and immediately made the right wing spot his own while Chris Jones ended up joint top scorer with a number of assists also to his name. Luc Rees and Chris Edwards gave accomplished displays for the first half of the season, as did Mile Szulik during his appearances.

Josh Jones showed signs of potential with a number of eye-catching displays. In attack Chris Marland continued his comeback from injury with some important goals and Christian Jones wore his heart on his sleeve and proved a menace for every centre half in the league. Adam Campbell looked sharp and laid the groundwork for a starring role in future.

Star of the season however was Mark James who weighed in with a 18-goal haul to underline his class.

Pre-season training is due to start on the first Tuesday of July at Maes Elwyn, Upper Brynaman. Players old and new welcome.
