THE Vale of Glamorgan Council has been awarded the Insport Bronze national accreditation.
The Insport development programme is designed to support local authorities and national governing bodies of sport to provide for disabled people and athletes.
Following a formal presentation and a question and answer session, the Insport panel indicated that they were unanimous in their decision to award the Council this accreditation.
The areas that were considered as part of this process included the planning process, workforce, education and training programme delivery, facilities, partner engagement and monitoring and evaluation.
Following the achievement of the ribbon level accreditation in 2013, the Sports and Play Development team have been working with a variety of partners including schools, community clubs and leisure centres, amongst others, to continue to improve the opportunities available to disabled people. The
he next step will be to work towards achieving silver accreditation.
Councillor Gwyn John, cabinet member for visible services and leisure said: āI would like to congratulate Karen Davies and the Sport and Play Development Team on achieving this award.
"I am delighted with the progress they have made in supporting disability sport groups in the Vale of Glamorgan and Iām sure the Silver award will be achieved in the future by this hard working team. Well done.ā
