FOR most the break between Christmas and New Year is a time to relax and unwind, but not for a dozen junior members of Windsor Lawn Tennis Club who were in action at prestigious tournaments both within Wales and across the border.

Held at Cardiff Metropolitan University, the annual South Wales Closed Championship attracted a strong entry in all age-groups, with Windsor well-represented.

Stand-out performers were Addy Bradley-Glinister who finished as 10 and Under Runner-up, losing out to fellow South Wales representative Connor Flynn.

Niamh Sweeney was another Windsor finalist in the 16 and Under Girls event, winning through some tough rounds against higher-rated county players before missing out to eventual winner Lily Scapelhorn.

Windsor players also took part in regional-level tournaments in Bath, Bristol and Shrewsbury, where Neirin Gilani was crowned Nine and Under champion fresh on the back of selection for the South Wales Nine and Under training squad.
