IN keeping with decades of tradition, the last week of the school holidays saw the Welsh Tennis Championships hosted at Cardiff LTC and David Lloyd Cardiff.
In keeping with a proud culture of supporting players on the tournament scene, Penarth Windsor LTC was well-represented by 15 members: Felix Bockelmann-Evans, Addy Bradley-Glinister, Alexander Clark, Harry Davies, Zac Essenhigh, Kai Evans, Neirin Gilani, Mali Gilani, Max Lendrum, Evan Lendrum, Alex Lewis, Charlie Newman, Annabel Richards, Matthias Ruggles and Niamh Sweeney.
The club wishes to congratulate all its members who participated, including some stand-out performers who will be making space in their
trophy cabinets. Despite a summer full of cricket commitments and nursing end-of-season injuries.
Zac Essenhigh displayed his prowess in reaching three finals: 14&U Singles, 16&U Singles and the 14&U Doubles.
The 12&U event brought success for Neirin Gilani who finished 4th in the Boys Singles, before teaming up with partner Felix Bockelmann-Evans in the doubles to scoop the national title.
There was even more success on the Mini Tennis courts too, with 2nd place in the 9&U Singles for Evan Lendrum and playing two years young in the 8&U category, a first Welsh title for Max Lendrum.
