BARRY Athletic remain undefeated atop of the Vale Premier Division but required a goal five minutes from time to see off St Athan in an enthralling encounter at the Athletic Ground.

Josh Bell (2) and Harry Carter getting the goals that send Athletic eight points clear, however, they have played two more games than nearest rivals Rhoose.

Only one other game in the Premier Division, as rain battered the Vale on Saturday, Penarth Town did the same to Cowbridge Town as they rained down goals in a huge 8-0 victory.

In Division One, the Holton Road train kept ploughing on through all in their path, a 5-2 victory over Cadoxton Imps keeps their 100% record intact and them six points clear at the top having played a game less than second place.

Second place is Cardiff Airport, who got back to winning ways after three losses in a row with a 5-0 win over Cwm Talwg.

Cadoxton Barry's indifferent form continued as they went down 2-0 to Tynewydd, the win puts Tynny fourth.

In Division Two, Rhoose B kept their perfect record with a 2-1 win over Barry Athletic B. St Athan B kept up their good form and three points off top with a big 3-2 win over Barry Vikings.

Cadoxton Athletic also remain in the mix in the third as they beat Island Marine B 2-0 to stay third and six points off the leaders with a game in hand.

After three losses Penarth Town B got a win with a 3-1 victory over out of form Vale Madrid.

Finally, the first round of the SWFA Cup was played Saturday with a handful of games in more of a provisional round to set up the second round proper.

The only Vale team in this round was Rhoose and they advanced with a massive, comprehensive 11-0 demolition of Cwm Rhondda.

Rhoose now join Barry Athletic, Island Marine, Barry Saints, St Athan and Cowbridge Town as the Vale league representation in the second round.

Next week sees a full league program with Rhoose playing Island Marine in the match of the day and a Cadoxton derby in division one.
