The Greenaway Autos Singles League

ALMOST THERE

SOME outstanding performances this week saw the conclusion of the Singles Cup competition together with the semifinals of the Elite league playoffs.

Singles Cup

First semi-final was between James Johnstone and Alan Oliver. James came out of the blocks quickly, taking a 3-1 lead, in the best of 7 legs encounter.

Hitting a maximum and a 15 darter along the way, together with scores of 121, 125 and 140. Alan managed to hold onto his shirt tails though and clawed his way back to 3-3, with some consistent ton scoring and clinical finishing of his own.

The last leg decider turned into an epic encounter with James claiming the spoils for a place in the final.

The second semi-final, between the much fancied Mark Stevens and the old fox Mo Cox, was a blistering affair. Nip and tuck all the way, with Mark just pipping Mo 4-3, with the aid of a timely 140 checkout.

Mo had his chances in the last leg but the doubles let him down.

The final was much closer than the 4-1 score line suggested. James hit 4 x 100, 125, 121, plus 3 x 140 scores, but the scoring and finishing of Mark was too much in the end.

Mark winning with scores of 5 x 100, 2 x 140, 121, 125, and 131, in legs of 19, 18 and 17 darts, to take the title.

The Elite League semi-finals

Lee Lewis was totally outplayed by Anthony Adams, who played his usual consistent game to triumph 4-0, and book his place in this weeks finale against Mark Stevens, who beat Matt Stanger, in the other semi, 4-3, in a truly brilliant game.

Matt hit 180, 174, 3 x 140, 6 x 100, and 16, 17 and 18 dart legs, but Mark equally hit 10 x 100 scores plus 4 x 140, and took out 124 in the final leg, to cap a brilliant night for him.

We are all looking forward to the climax next week to crown a memorable season.

The Mutineers do their bit on the final night with both semis and the final to be played, together with the climax of the Blind Pairs competition.

The Ladies finals also come to a head with Tracy Goddard waiting to see who she plays in the final.
