Sully Cricket Club (The Spartans) first team won its division and promotion with an emphatic 347 run win against Dinas Powys at the common.

Winning the toss captain Jacob Packinathan elected to bat first a decision that would be proved correct.

Regular openers Sandeep and Saeed put on 198 for the first wicket before Saeed was dismissed for a superb 106,. Sandeep continued to punish the bowlers and was ably supported by Saneesh who hit a quick fire 64 before being well caught . Sudhi joined Sandeep and they continued the onslaught with Sandeep reaching his 150 with a superb 6. Sudhi also took a liking to the bowling and in the last over of the 40 hit 12 runs to reach 66 not out, with Sandeep not out on 153 and the Spartans reaching their highest ever 40 over score of a fantastic 404 for 2.

In response Dinas Powys had no answer to the swing bowling attack of Morgan (3 for 12) and Khan( 2 for 3) and were 15 for 6 , when new bowlers Ashwin (2 for 14) and Sathish( 2 for 22) continued to peg back the home side and with a superb run out Dinas Powys were all out for 57.

The second team the following week also ended its season on a winning note with a 99 run win away to Monmouth.

Morgan winning the toss hesitated but elected to bat on one of the few grey overcast Saturdays this season and it would prove the right decision.

Morgan opened the batting with Tiibin who from the start smashed his way to a quickfire 50 and before being bowled for an effortless 65 had taken the Spartans to 106 off 10 overs. Morgan was joined by Saeed who smashed 25 in 3 overs before being caught on the boundary .Sudhi joined Morgan who reached his 50 in the 20th over and then Sudhi hit 35 not out in 6 overs to take the away side to 220 for 2 with Morgan remaining unbeaten on 66 and with the weather worsening the skipper took the decision to declare to try and force victory.

Monmouth Started badly with Khan 1 for 23 , Sathish 1 for 33 and two run outs leaving the home side 56 for 4, but they rallied and with only Kashif 1 for 14 taking a wicket pushed the score to 104 for 5 and with the rain pending drastic action was needed to wheedle the remaining wicket out. Enter Sandeep with his deceptive slow swing bowling and in an amazing 4 overs he took 5 for 15 just as a torrential downpour was about to hit Monmouth and the game was at an end with victory for the Spartans
