IN very difficult conditions, Simon Collins captured the final competition of the season at Dinas Powys Golf Club with a net 69 winning the Autumn tankard.

With many members preferring to stay indoors the 15 handicapper toughed it out with around 30 others and earned a deserved victory.

He managed to pip the early starters Dave Russ and William Bellis with his score.

Collins has had a lot to celebrate recently as he claimed his first hole-in one a few week earlier on the par 3 12th.

The annual Charity day organised by Wayne James was eventually played after weather postponed the event a couple of weeks before.

Colin Williams team were the victors and played in fine conditions .

Troy Knight is certainly in the running for golfer of the year as he won 2 of the 3 running tournaments recently.

In the Lewis Williams trophy he defeated Adam Jurd and last weekend triumphed in the prestigious FA Green Cup, beating single figure handicapper and long standing member Paul Rich.

With one more to go ,Knight will be confident of achieving an unprecedented hat-trick of victories.

The Winter League started last Sunday and 3 divisions began the long road to success which culminates in the final of the knockout and overall title in April next year.

Last year's winners Paul Gibson and Jeff Haines will no doubt be looking stamp their presence on the event.
