SEPTEMBER saw the the finals of several trophies being contested An eventful month for Glamorganshire Golf Club's ladies.

On Sunday 16th September The Jubilee Cup and the Mixed Foursomes were very exciting to watch with some magnificent golf.

The Jubilee Cup was very close all the way round and finally won by Jan Smith who beat Emma Greenslade on the 19th hole.

Sam and Paul Edwards won the Mixed Foursomes 1 up on the 18th, Jo Pateman and Pete Wood managed to come back from being 5 down to all square on the 18th tee.

Earlier in the month, the Elizabeth Howells Cup was won by Joy Secular, runner-up Jo Pateman.

The Bogey Salver was won by Gilly Bennett, runner-up Karen Blatchford, the match was closely contested and won on the 19th hole.

The Ladies Foursomes was won by Alison Smith & Ellen Davies who won on the 18th.

They beat Jo Pateman and Helen Williams.

Jan Smith and Emma Greenslade won the County Handicap Rose Bowl Foursome Competition at Radyrm a much coveted prize and a highlight of the Glamorgan County calendar.

They played a hard match against a team from Llanwern GC.

Jan had a tremendous putt to secure a win on the 18th

Congratulations to Jo Pateman and Helen Williams who won the Wales Centenary Greensomes Foursomes at Cardigan Golf Club on Wednesday 19th September with a fantastic 39 points.

It was horrendous weather causing play to be suspended for two hours due to 55 mph gales and heavy rain.

But the Glamorganshire pair had a storming back 9 and came home 2 points ahead of the runners-up. There were 38 pairs in total from all parts of Wales so it really was a great effort.

On Sunday 2nd September the Mixed Foursomes President’s Cup was won by Lesley Mullan and Trevor Miller.

Second were Bridie and Brian Griffiths, in 3rd place Pam Whalley and Alun Watts. Well done all.

The ladies enjoyed their very own Ryder Cup competition on 23rd September, with Wales victorious! Celebration followed with tea and cake.
