DINAS Powis Golf Club held the annual presentation night at the clubhouse last Friday with captain Bob Wilson and president Marshall Anderson on hand to congratulate the winners and present the trophies.

Outgoing Captain Wilson praised the groundstaff and management on their hard work behind the scenes to make the course one to be proud of and envied by visiting golfers for the pristine condition it has been in despite the very hot weather which parched the fairways.

The club was also progressing well off the course with the function room being constantly used for various reasons.

Winners during the summer season included former captain Paul Evans who scooped the Sir Joseph Davies Cup, Jon Madge who captured the prestigious Presidents' Prize and Ian Eidman who despite being laid low for the last few months with a back problem won the Spring Tankard .

Long serving members Paul Spencer and Steve Yates were others who were victorious in the Davila Cup and Rogers Bowl respectively.

James Spear was Club Champion for the first time and Rob Hathway was the 2nd division champion . Troy Knight was a clear winner of the Golfer of the Year trophy having reached three finals and being successful in two of them.

In the Ladies section, Lisa Ryley was the champion and Ruth Yates claimed a running competition.

The Winter League is now in full flow and hopefully the weather will stay decent for matches to be played on Sundays.
