THE first games of the second half of the season were played across Penarth this week, however we did have one cancellation between the Ex’s A (Sparrows) and the Pirates.

At the Coronation the A side took on the visitors from across the Road at the Station Hotel, the match was closely fought containing many high scores with many legs going evenly all the way down to the double with the Coro team only coming out on top by two points right at the end.

Station took the first pairs with Alex Vowles hitting a 70 out finishing on x6, Dave Hodges hit back for the Coro A scoring 100 x7.

Dave went on to take the first singles points for the home side with scores of 100 140 x12 and 10 x1.

Ian Hartley took one point with 100 x4, Ian Buckley also took a point scoring 140, 10 100 x16.

Melvin Horwood took a further 2 points for the Coro with 117 x14 and 133 x18, Singles wins from the Station came from Paul Paterson 100 x19, x13, Alex Vowles x16 and 100 x16, Miles Wilton 140, 100 x20,.

Dave Hodges took the team game on x20 for the Coro A to take the final score to 8-6 in their favour.

At the Golden Lion they took on the Coronation Club B side, again games ran close but it was to be the Coro B that came home with most of the points winning by 9 points to the Lions 4.

Lion started well wining the first pairs through Nathan Rosser with 121 x6, Anthony hit back for the Coro B scoring 100 x11.

Lion went on to win 3 singles points through Rob 133 128, x4, 117, Nathan Rosser x1, 121 125 101, x20.

Coro B took 7 singles points through Paul Cox x16 and 100 x2, Anthony Adams 100 x13, 100, 100, Neil Thomas 112 x1, 100 x1, Lee Lewis 140 140 x7 and x20. The team game went the way of the Coro B when Lee Lewis hit 100 and Neil Thomas x2.
