THE final qualifying matches took place Sunday with three players still in the hunt for a place at the top table.

Alan Oliver, Paul Cox and James Johnstone all had the opportunity to progress.

The first game of the night saw John Nowland and Grant West, with both hitting 140s and 100s with a plethora of 80+ scores as well, in a 2-2 draw.

Indeed John went on to draw his other two matches, against Matt Davies, 2x100, and Alan Oliver, who despite a 104 out and a 18 dart leg, didn’t quite get the win he needed after a tense last leg.

James went down 3-0 against Grant, 140, 123 100, 82 out, giving an opportunity for Paul to get the victory he needed to jump into the top half, however a 140, 100, wasn’t enough against some excellent scoring from Matt, 4x100, who took the game 3-0.

It was down to James, 100x2, 125, who had to win to progress, against an improving Sparkle, 140, 123, 121.

Doubles again proved elusive to Mark in the first leg, but was put right in the second. James reclaimed the lead in emphatic style, but again Mark had his chances in the last, but James held his nerve to claim the two points he wanted to get into eighth spot.

This Sunday, 24th, sees the first of the all important rounds in the quest for the title.

The top eight, The Buccaneers are Dai Randall, Matt Stanger, Mark Stevens, Grant West, John Nowland, Matt Davies, Neil Thomas and James Johnstone.

The rest, The Mutineers are, Alan Oliver, Paul Cox, Paul Jenkins, Nathan Rosser, Steve Turnbull, Mo Cox, Mark Williams and Marissa.
